With the Citrix Access Suite Licensing feature, Citrix licensing is handled by one or more license servers. Computers running Citrix Presentation Server communicate with a license server to obtain licenses. The Citrix License Server Management Pack monitors the health and availability of license servers providing Subscription Advantage and software licenses for computers running Citrix Presentation Server. It interprets and reports on information supplied by the Licensing Provider, and on system events generated on Enterprise Edition servers. The Management Pack provides real-time event and performance monitoring of license servers licensing Enterprise Edition servers and server farms, and an extensive knowledge base with links to Citrix Knowledge Base articles that administrators can use to interpret events and troubleshoot problems. The Management Pack also integrates seamlessly with the Citrix Presentation Server Management Pack to provide essential licensing information.
For information about how to install and configure the Management Pack, see the Management Pack Administrator's Guide.

The Management Pack offers the following key features and benefits in your installation:
- Performance monitoring.
You can use the Management Pack to monitor license server performance. Monitors and rules can be customized and new monitors and rules created to set thresholds for key performance attributes on the license server.
- Topology diagram. The Management Pack extends the Citrix topology diagram to show the placement of license servers in the overall Citrix deployment.
- Extensive knowledge base. The Management Pack includes an extensive product support knowledge base, including links to relevant Citrix Knowledge Base articles. Centralized access to information about managing license servers enables administrators to quickly interpret events and troubleshoot problems.
- Customizable monitors, rules, and alerts. You can configure the Management Pack to alter how it responds to an event. You do this by modifying and extending the rules to best suit your environment. For example, you can configure the monitor for license expiry so that the alert triggered is meaningful and appropriate to your site. Citrix Knowledge Base documentation is available to help you with this customization.
- Citrix views. The Management Pack extends Citrix views to include license server information. These views allow you to monitor events and alerts raised for license servers, and to identify trends and performance issues occurring on these servers.
- Easy installation. The Citrix License Server Management Pack consists of a single file that is available from the Citrix Web site. To install the Management Pack, you simply import this file into Operations Manager, using the Operations Manager console. Note: Citrix License Server Management Pack depends on the Citrix Library and Citrix Presentation Server Management Packs. Make sure you import the Citrix Library and Citrix Presentation Server Management Packs before attempting to install the Citrix License Server Management Pack.

The Management Pack requires the Citrix Licensing Provider to be installed on every license server that you want to monitor. The Citrix Presentation Server Licensing Provider is available on each Windows-based license server. This WMI provider extracts information about Citrix licensing from the licensing server on which it runs and presents this to the Management Pack for display. Each license server must be added to the list of managed computers in Operations Manager.
For more information about installing and using the Licensing Provider, see the Provider for Microsoft WMI Administrator's Guide. For more information about Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), see Microsoft's Web site:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/. For information about how to configure the Management Pack, see the Management Pack Administrator's Guide.
