Summary

The Microsoft Information Worker Management Pack for Windows Media Player monitors the reliability and performance of Windows Media Player. By detecting, alerting, and reporting on critical reliability related events and performance indicators, this Management Pack helps identify top issues that are effecting Windows Media Player and end users. As a result this Management Pack will reduce the total cost of ownership (TOC) of Windows by enabling proactive management of the applications and the reduction of resolution times for the issues identified.

A complete set of Monitors and Rules have been provided to monitor Windows Media Player . The Management Pack includes monitoring capabilities for:

• Crash Detection

• Hang Detection

• Abnormal Memory Resource Utilization

• Abnormal Processor Resource Utilization

Knowledge

A complete set of Knowledge has been provided for all Monitors, Rules, and Discoveries. For Alert generating Monitors and Rules you’ll find Knowledge that will help expedite resolution process. Where applicable Inline Tasks, Views, and Reports have been added to the Knowledge to enable quick diagnostics and the fastest possible resolutions.

Reports

A series of reports such have been provided which will provide administrators with the ability to take a historical look at the reliability and performance of Office applications.

Configuration

This Management Pack does not require any out of the box configuration. Overrides may be applied to features to modify the out of the box configuration (for example; enable/disable monitors and rules, change thresholds, etc).
