PtShmScom Management Pack Installation NOTES: 1. Any installation method requires the user installing the program to have the appropriate level of permissions to import management packs into Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). 2. The actions taken during the installation are to extract the management pack and system libraries to a local folder and to then run the import script. 3. Un-installing the program does not remove the management pack from SCOM. This decision was made to not remove the management pack from SCOM when uninstalling to allow for possible dependencies on the management pack created by the user. (Custom views and alerts will cause a dependency on the management pack in the default management pack). To uninstall the management pack run the uninstaller which will remove the registry entry. Then delete the management pack from SCOM (removing any dependencies on the management pack first) and then finally manually delete the folder containing the management pack. The folder will be located at [user-selected top level folder]\Dell\PowerTools\PowerToolsShmScom. 4. On installer failure: a. If user does not have sufficient permissions to write to a folder, log in to an account that has appropriate permissions and re-run. b. If user has permissions to write to the selected folder but does not have permissions to import into SCOM, the files will be extracted to the selected folder. Log in on an account that has permissions to import into SCOM and re-run the installer or at this point manually select to import the management pack into SCOM from SCOM. 1.
