Dell MD Array Inconsistent Replication Write Mode

Dell.MDStorageArray.ABBXMLEvent450 (Rule)

Knowledge Base article:

Summary

Inconsistent Replication Write Mode

The causes and resolutions refer to the Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager recovery guru. Launch Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager to diagnose and fix the recovery failure as follows:

Causes

The storage array has detected that the write mode for the primary virtual disk in a replication relationship is set to Asynchronous while the secondary virtual disk's write mode is set to Synchronous, resulting in an inconsistency. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

Important Note

This problem occurs when the write mode for the primary virtual disk in a replication relationship is manually changed from Synchronous to Asynchronous resulting in inconsistent settings with the secondary virtual disk, which is not supported.

Resolutions

1

Refer to the Details Area to blink the affected replicated pair.

2

Perform the following steps to change the primary virtual disk's write mode on the primary-side storage array:

a

Select Copy Services>>Replication>>Remote Replication (Legacy)>>Change>>Write Mode.

b

Select the affected replicated pair.

c

Select the Synchronous write mode and click OK...

3

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your Technical Support Representative.
