HIP - Bytes received from host over TCP/IP

HIP___Bytes_received_from_host_over_TCP_IP_12_Rule.AdvancedAlertCriteriaMonitor (UnitMonitor)

Knowledge Base article:

Management Pack
Summary

A large amount of data has been received in incoming requests to the HIP Service.

Causes
  • A large number of incoming requests over an extended period of time
  • Excessively large, possibly malformed requests being sent to the HIP Application

Resolutions
  • This condition could indicate a normal, peak usage time for the HIP Service, but it should be investigated. If this condition is encountered on a regular basis, consider adding an additional server(s) running the HIP Application to support the application load.
  • A spike in incoming data rates could represent a malfunctioning client system generating a large number of requests, or generating requests of excessive size. In such a case, the client system should be investigated to identify if the number of requests being issued is valid.
