Monitor REC_VOLUME_GROUP_MISSING (202)

IBMStorageSubsystem.FailureID_0202_Monitor (UnitMonitor)

A volume group has transitioned from the online or incomplete state to the missing state becauseof drive removal. The missing state means that all drives of the group are missing.

Knowledge Base article:

Missing Array

What Caused the Problem?

The storage subsystem has detected that all of the drives associated with an array are missing. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive components. Always use proper antistatic protection when handling components. Touching components without using a proper ground may damage the equipment.

Important Notes

Recovery Steps

1

If...

Then...

You want to retain the array on this array

OR

You want to export the array to a different storage subsystem

Go to step 2.

You DO NOT want to retain the array in this array

OR

You cannot complete an Array Export because you do not have the drives in your possession

Locate the missing array

?in the Logical View of the Subsystem Management Window and delete it.

Go to step 4.

2

If...

Then...

The drives associated with the array have been removed

Reinsert all of the missing drives associated with this array into the original slots.

Wait until the array and its associated logical drives display optimal status, and then go to step 3.

One or more drive enclosures associated with the array does not have power

Check to see that the each drive enclosure power supply is properly connected to an operating power source, has the power switch in the ON position, and has an optimal status (a separate problem will be displayed in the Summary area for a power supply that is not optimal).

If...

Then...

You find a power problem

Correct the problem and go to step 3.

You cannot find a power problem

Contact your technical support representative.

3

If...

Then...

You want to export the array to a different storage subsystem

  • Highlight the array in the Logical View of the Subsystem Management Window, and then select the

Advanced >> Maintenance >> Export Array

    menu option.

  • Follow the instructions in the Export Array wizard to successfully export the array.

  • Go to step 4.

You DO?NOT want to export this array

Go to step 4.

4

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your technical support representative.
