Here comes the display string of Device Availability.
The device is not available.
Device availability alert.
Networking problems are the main reason for this issue. Other reasons are related to servers status; if servers are up. It can also take place because of firewalls that could be blocking required ports like web service ports. It might be that Xian UNIX agent is down.
Verify your network connections are working properly. Verify all required ports are open and there is connectivity between Xian NMS Server and all the servers. Open or enable these ports in order to allow data flow between Xian and the servers. Verify if Xian UNIX agent is running in the UNIX box by using the following command in a UNIX console: #/etc/rc.d/init.d/xianserver status | start.
Monitors the Solaris Server ICMP and Xian Agent availability and ICMP response time, providing the possibility to generate independent alerts and counters. The rule may be configured to consider the device not available after some number of failed connection retries and disable all the device active rules except this rule to avoid the generation of not necessary alerts, and while the device is not available this rule may run with a different schedule to return faster to its normal state.
