AIX 6.1 OperatingSystem Available MBytes Swap Monitor
Available megabytes of swap space is low. System performance may be adversely affected.
The available megabytes of swap space value represents the free swap space, as reported by the operating system (from the Perfstat API).
The monitor threshold is analyzed against an average of values returned in polls to the agent, where the Number of Samples parameter controls the number of samples included in the calculation of the average.
Default Configuration
Parameter | Default Value |
Threshold | 2.5 |
Interval (seconds) | 300 |
Number of Samples | 3 |
Overrides can be used to change the parameter values defined above for all instances or for specific instances or groups.
An unhealthy state indicates that the swap space utilization is currently high. Circumstances that may cause this condition:
Processes using excessive physical memory resources.
Writing to a temp file system.
Too many applications are running simultaneously on the computer.
An application may be leaking memory over time.
Stop or kill one or more applications or processes. To inspect resources used by processes, use the "topas" command.
Add swap space.
Add physical memory to the computer.
You can view available memory by running the "Memory Information" Task from the State View.
You can view detailed memory statistics by running the "Run VMStat" Task from the State View.
