The BACKUP or RESTORE command cannot finish because of an I/O error at the hardware or operating system level.
Follow these steps:
Verify the integrity of the media where the backup file resides. If this is a RESTORE operation and the backup file originally resided on another drive or machine, verify the integrity of the media where the backup file originally resided.
Check the Event Viewer logs and the SQL Server error log for additional errors that may occur around the same time.
