The tempdb database could not be opened. The possible reasons for this could include:
One or more of the files defined for tempdb has been moved or deleted.
One or more of the files defined for tempdb is on a disk that is inaccessible or has become unusable.
The SQL Server startup account does not have permission to view and open one or more of the files defined for tempdb.
Review the SQL Server error logs and the Event Viewer logs for other errors around the same time as the error.
Run diagnostic checks on your hardware to verify that the disks are still operating correctly.
Check the permissions on the files defined for tempdb and for the folder(s) in which those files reside. The SQL Server startup account must have full control of the files defined for tempdb.
To get a list of the files defined for the tempdb database, switch your database context to tempdb and execute
EXEC sp_helpfile.
