Summary

SQL Server Service Broker will try to use the encryption algorithm specified when the endpoint was created or altered. The AES encryption algorithm is only supported on Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2003 or later.

Causes

The AES encryption algorithm was defined for an endpoint created on a Windows 2000 or older operating system. This error is logged to the Windows application log as MSSQLSERVER event ID 28060.

Resolutions

Upgrade the computer to a supported operating system.
