The attempt to add a merge article failed while calling sp_mergearticlecolumn. sp_mergearticlecolumn is used to either mark all columns of the article for replication or to vertically partition the columns by marking only some of them for replication.
Check for other errors that may have been reported at the same time and address those errors.
