MSSQL on Linux: Could not create an instance of OLE DB provider

The rule triggers an alert when SQL Server could not create an instance of an OLE DB provider to connect to a linked server.

Summary

SQL Server could not create an instance of an OLE DB provider to connect to a linked server. The Linux application log will identify the name of the OLE DB provider and the instance of SQL Server.

Resolutions

Locate event ID 7302 in the Linux application log to identify the OLE DB provider name. Verify that the OLE DB provider is correctly installed and configured to connect to the linked server. Run the query again. If this error repeats, contact the OLE DB application vendor.
