MSSQL on Windows: Could not obtain exclusive lock on database

Microsoft.SQLServer.Windows.EventRule.DBEngine.Could_not_obtain_exclusive_lock_on_database_5_Rule (Rule)

You may receive this error stating a lock could not be obtained for the model database if the model database is in use when you issue any CREATE DATABASE statement. Since a new database is copied from the model database, the model database has to be in a state with no activity.

Resolutions

Commit or roll back all transactions in the database mentioned in the error, and close any connections that are using that database.
