Gateway Server Connectivity (Aspect)

This aspect contains the Gateway Server Connectivity objects that you can monitor in the Gateway Central Management Service. These health monitors include the following detectors.

Green Health State

Event ID 5259: GCM_ALL_MESSAGES_DELIVERED - Gateway Central Management service delivered all outstanding messages to all Gateway Servers. These messages may include gateway configurations and alert requests.

Yellow Health States

Event ID 5252: GCM_GATEWAY_CONNECTION_FAILURE - Gateway Central Management service did not connect to Gateway Server. Make sure that the server is running and is reachable from this computer, and that this computer can resolve the DNS names of the Gateway Servers.
Event ID 5253: GCM_GATEWAY_AUTH_FAILURE - Gateway Central Management service did not authenticate Gateway X. Make sure that the Gateway Server certificate has not expired and that it is trusted by this computer. The Gateway Server certificate should use a Web site certificate template with the appropriate Gateway domain name.
Event ID 5254: GCM_GATEWAY_CLIENT_AUTH_FAILURE - Gateway X did not authenticate the Gateway Central Management service. Make sure that the certificate that is used by this computer is valid and trusted by the Gateway. Use the Gateway Central Management certificate template to issue a valid certificate.
Event ID 5256: GCM_INVALID_GATEWAY_URL - Gateway Central Management service did not access one of the Gateway Servers because of an invalid URL. Make sure that the access point for remote Gateway management is valid.
Event ID 5260: GCM_GATEWAY_FAILURE - Gateway Central Management service received HTTP error code X from Gateway Server. This Gateway Server may have rejected a message that included Gateway server configuration and alert requests. Confirm that the Gateway Server configuration is legitimate. Gateway Central Management service will try to re-send this message.
Event ID 5261: GCM_NO_MESSAGES_IN_DATABASE - Gateway Central Management service found no messages to send to the Gateway Servers. A message may include the configuration of a Gateway Server and alert requests.
Event ID 5264: GCM_NO_GATEWAYS_IN_DATABASE - Gateway Central Management service did not connect to Gateway Server. Make sure that the server is running and is reachable from this computer, and that this computer can resolve the DNS names of the Gateway Servers.

Red Health States

Event ID 5257: GCM_NO_CLIENT_CERT_AVAILABLE - Gateway Central Management service cannot find a valid certificate to authenticate with the Gateways. The service can automatically detect a valid installed certificate issued with the Gateway Central Management template. Install a valid certificate and then restart the service.
Event ID 5258: GCM_ALL_GATEWAY_CONNECTIONS_FAILED - Gateway Central Management service did not connect to any Gateway Server. Make sure that all Gateway Servers are running and are reachable from this computer, and that this computer can resolve the DNS names of the Gateway Servers.
Event ID 5266: GCM_AUTH_OID_OVERRIDDEN - A friendly name has been registered that conflicts with the GCM Client Authorization OID.
Event ID 5267: GCM_SSL_SEND_FAIL - Gateway Central Management service was able to connect but the connection failed when attempting to submit a request. This can be caused by network errors or by an incorrect Gateway certificate. Make sure IIS is configured correctly on the Gateway, the Gateway has a valid certificate from a trusted CA, and the private key is accessible.
Event ID 5268: GCM_CLIENT_CERT_VERIFICATION_FAILED - The following client certificate is not valid and cannot be used by the Gateway Central Management service for authentication with the gateway.
Event ID 5272: GCM_GATEWAY_INSTANCE_AUTH_FAILURE - The MDM Gateway Server certificate is not valid for this instance. Make sure the certificate configured on the gateway was issued using the correct instance template.
Event ID 5274: GCM_GATEWAY_VERSION_MISMATCH - Gateway Central Management service could not communicate with Gateway X because of a version mismatch.

Installing the Gateway Servers (Resolution)

Mobile Device Manager (MDM) Gateway Server resides in the perimeter network and handles communication between the managed Windows Mobile devices, the company network, and MDM Device Management Server. Generally, MDM Gateway Server is not domain-joined with the company network and is configured within the company local area network (LAN) through MDM Device Management Server. For encrypted IPSec communication between the managed device and MDM Gateway Server, you must install certification authority certificates on MDM Gateway Server.
