Serwer sieci Web internetowych usług informacyjnych (IIS) można skonfigurować do rejestrowania w trybie witryny, scentralizowanego rejestrowania binarnego lub scentralizowanego rejestrowania W3C. W przypadku scentralizowanego rejestrowania W3C wszystkie żądania klienta dotyczące wszystkich witryn są rejestrowane w jednym pliku dziennika o scentralizowanym formacie W3C na serwerze. Scentralizowane rejestrowanie binarne również powoduje rejestrowanie wszystkich witryn centralnie w jednym pliku, ale plik ten ma scentralizowany format binarny. W przypadku rejestrowania w trybie witryny wszystkie żądania klienta są rejestrowane na poziomie witryny, a nie centralnie na poziomie serwera.
