The multicast server uses multicast IP addresses to connect client computers with an associated transmission. This means that each client computer that is connected to a multicast transmission is listening on the multicast IP address that is associated with that transmission. Problems occur when the multicast IP address is being used by another server at the same time.
To perform this procedure, you must either be a member of the local Administrators group or have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To change the multicast IP used by Windows Deployment Services:
Open the Windows Deployment Services MMC snap-in.
Right-click the server name, and then click Properties.
See the ranges listed on the Network Settings tab.
Under Multicast IP Address, select the appropriate option. You can use Multicast Address Dynamic Client Allocation Protocol (MADCAP) if it is available on your network. Or you can change the IP address range so that it does not overlap with any other servers on your network.
