The ESM does not support trunking.

Knowledge Base article:

Fibre Channel Trunking - Incompatible ESM

What Caused the Problem?

The current cabling configuration supports Fibre Channel trunking; however the ESM listed in the Recovery Guru Details area does NOT support Fibre Channel trunking.

Important Note

The ESM is still operational and can continue to be used in this storage array. However, if you want the storage array to utilize the trunking feature, then you must replace this EM with one that supports Fibre Channel trunking.

Recovery Steps

1

If...

Then...

You want to replace the ESM with one that supports Fibre Channel trunking

Replace the ESM with an ESM that supports Fibre Channel trunking, and then go to step 2.

Note:  Refer to the "Tray Component Information" dialog or the Storage Array Profile to see whether or not an ESM supports Fibre Channel trunking.

You want to cable this ESM to the controller using a typical (non-trunking) cabling configuration

Refer to the documentation for recommended cabling configurations. After you have a valid cabling configuration, go to step 2.
