The Distribution Manager requires that Internet Information Services (IIS) base components be installed on the local Configuration Manager site server to delete the virtual directory in IIS. The Distribution Manager also requires that IIS Web services be installed on the distribution point server that has to support Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS).
This condition could occur because:
IIS is not installed and running on the distribution point.
There are problems with the network connection to the distribution point.
Domain Name System (DNS) problems can also prevent the Distribution Manager from remotely connecting to the distribution point to delete the virtual directory in IIS.
Verify that IIS base components are installed on the local Configuration Manager site server and that IIS Web services are installed on the distribution point server.
For more assistance, see a list of additional support options in the support section of the Configuration Manager Web site at Support for Configuration Manager 2007.
