Causes

A Veeam SQL Transaction Log Backup Job may fail for various reasons, for example, due to failure to connect to the virtual infrastructure or because of some issue with the application-aware processing.

SQL transaction log backups require that specific permissions are granted to provide Veeam Backup & Replication access to the SQL server. A change to the required permissions was made in Backup & Replication version 9.5 Update 3a. The permissions required are listed in this Veeam KB article.

Resolutions

Check the error message reported by the backup server. If there is no direct indication about the issue, check Veeam Online Knowledge Base for possible solutions.
