Summary

This monitor tracks the vCenter Performance Charts Service Health Alarm.

Causes

This alarm will fire in vCenter, using triggers defined via the vSphere Client.

By default, this alarm is triggered by the following events:

Health status of the Performance Charts Service changed to GREEN.

Health status of the Performance Charts Service changed to YELLOW.

alarm_status(red)

Health status of the Performance Charts Service changed to RED.

Resolutions

Failure of the Performance Charts Service may cause data collection downtime and therefore gaps in statistics stored in the vCenter performance history database. Veeam MP performance data collection may also be affected.

Check whether the Performance Charts Service is running. If the service is stopped, try starting it again. For more information on stopping, starting, or restarting VMware vCenter Server 6.0 services, see this VMware KB article. If the Performance Charts Service health status is still not GREEN, check that the vCenter Server database settings are configured correctly; for more information, see this VMware KB article. If this doesnot resolve the issue, try resetting the VMware vCenter Server Inventory Service database; for more information, see this VMware KB article.
