This monitor tracks the Update Manager Service Health Alarm.
This alarm will fire in vCenter, using triggers defined via the vSphere Client.
By default, this alarm is triggered by the following events:
vCenter Event | Component | Alarm Status | Description |
vim.event.HealthStatusChangedEvent | updatemgr | alarm_status(green) | Health status of the Update Manager Service changed to GREEN. |
vim.event.HealthStatusChangedEvent | updatemgr | alarm_status(yellow) | Health status of the Update Manager Service changed to YELLOW. |
vim.event.HealthStatusChangedEvent | updatemgr | alarm_status(red) | Health status of the Update Manager Service changed to RED. |
The Update Manager Service checks whether VMware ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and virtual appliances are running up-to-date VMware vSphere software. The service is also responsible for centralized automated patch and version installation. If the Update Manager Service Health Alarm fires, check whether the Update Manager Service is running. In case the service is stopped, try starting it again. For more information on stopping, starting and restarting vCenter Server 6.x services, see this VMware KB article.
For more information on troubleshooting Update Manager Service issues, see VMware Docs.
