Knowledge Article: ID B0681C482: System shutoff due to DASD Option temperature.

Description

The service processor on the specified blade server has shut down because the Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) reaches or exceeds the over-temperature threshold.

Causes

The temperature of the specified blade server is at or above the over-temperature threshold.

Implications

The specified blade server will be shut down.

Resolutions

Perform these steps:

  1. Check the room ambient temperature to ensure that it is within the operating specifications for the chassis.
  2. Verify that all fan/blower modules are running. Replace fan modules if necessary.
  3. Verify that a device or filler is installed in each bay in the front and rear of the chassis, and verify that there is nothing covering the bays. Any missing components can cause a major reduction in airflow for the blade server.
  4. Verify that there is nothing covering the media tray (that will disrupt the airflow to the ambient temperature sensor).
