Knowledge Article: ID B06A2E001: Media Tray 1 temperature is unavailable. Cooling capacity set to maximum.

Description

The advanced management module cannot read the temperature for the specified media tray. The advanced management module sets the cooling capacity to maximum, which ramps up the fan modules.

Causes

If the management bus monitor fails to get the media tray temperature, the advanced management module sets the cooling capacity to the maximum.

Implications

A media tray disruption can disrupt airflow to the ambient temperature sensor. This disruption can lead to a rise in the enclosure temperature, which sets the fans to maximum.

Resolutions

Check the event log for communication failures for multiple components, such as I/O modules, fan modules, and power modules. If there are communication failures for multiple components, restart the advanced management module.

If there are no other communication failures, perform these steps:

  1. Reseat the media tray.
  2. Replace the media tray.
