Knowledge Article: ID B0A027100: Reduced cooling capacity in the chassis. Loss of an additional Chassis Cooling Device will cause blade(s) to shutdown.

Description

The cooling capacity for the chassis has been reduced because a fan module has failed or has been removed. If additional fan modules fail or are removed, blade servers might be shut down.

Causes

When the BladeCenter chassis detects that there is insufficent cooling to support blade operations, two possible conditions are:

  1. A fan module has failed.
  2. You have removed a fan module.

Implications

The advanced management module might shut down the blade servers.

Resolutions

Perform these steps:

  1. If you removed a fan module, replace the fan module.
  2. Look in the event log for errors related to fan module failures and resolve those errors.
