Description
This incident indicates that the IBM ServeRAID Manager Agent is in conflict with another component on the Window operating system.
IBM Director Platform Agent*1 requires one version of the IBM ServeRAID Manager Agent for monitoring the health of the ServeRAID storage. Another "standalone" version of the ServeRAID Manager provides similar functionality to IBM Systems Director and should not be used with IBM Director Platform Agent*1 Services.
For more information about ServeRAID Manager, visit the IBM Systems Director Resources Web site and look for "ServeRAID Manager."
See the "Additional information" section that follows for information about troubleshooting.
The so-called "standalone" ServeRAID Manager Agent is intended to be used directly with the ServeRAID Manager server. It is recommended that you do not install both the standalone version and the version of ServeRAID Manager Agent that works with IBM Systems Director.
Causes
The standalone ServeRAID Manager Agent is not meant to coexist with the ServeRAID Manager Agent for IBM Systems Director.
Implications
When both the standalone ServeRAID Manager Agent and the version of ServeRAID Manager Agent that works with IBM Systems Director are installed on the same system, the ServeRAID Manager Agent for Director Platform Agent*1 might stop functioning altogether. If that happens, almost all of the hardware instrumentations provided by ServeRAID are lost for systems management software, such as IBM Systems Director Server or Microsoft Operations Manager. As a result, the systems management software is not able to discover hardware components or monitor the health of the ServeRAID storage.
