Description

The Redundant Network Adapter Failback event occurs when the redundancy state of a system network interface card (NIC) changes. A change in the redundancy state requires a teamed configuration.

Causes

The Redundant Network Adapter Switchback event occurs when the primary network interface card (NIC) is restored in a teamed NIC configuration.

Implications

The primary network interface card (NIC) is restored, which means that the system network access should be fine. However, you should investigate the switchback and the previous switchover event.

Resolutions

  1. If you are a qualified person and have the authority, follow the suggested actions:
    • Gather as much information about the NIC switch as possible
    • Consult the Hardware Maintenance manual and Troubleshooting Guide.
    • Make sure the correct device drivers are installed (the latest level).
    • Check the Device Manager and verify that the network adapters are being seen by the operating system.
    • Verify the presence of the physical connection by ensuring that the link LED illuminates (the LED should be green, either solid or blinking).

  2. Monitor the system for future events, keep track of all alerts, events, and logs.
