Knowledge Article: ID X00P0003 " Power supply lost AC power with possible loss of standby power

Description

This monitor keeps track of the system power supply. An error is generated when the availability state of a system power supply changes.

The system power supply is also monitored and managed by BMC (Baseboard Management Controller), and power supply failure is reported through the logs in the BMC or RSA-II (Remote Supervisor Adapter). To ensure proper operations, keep the firmware and the device driver current. See the "Additional information" section below for the download location.

Causes

These are some conditions that can cause AC power loss:

"        The power cord was removed or is not properly inserted.
"        The AC outlet has no power.
"        The power cord is disconnected or damaged.
"        The power supply is not properly inserted.
"        Components are not properly seated.

Implications

The system will not start if the standby power is not present. Restore the AC power as soon as possible.

Resolutions

1.    If possible, place a service call.

2.    If you are a qualified service person and have the authority, check the following:
"    Check the LEDs on all the power supplies.
"    Identify the power supply and make sure it is plugged in properly.
"    Identify the power cord for the power supply, and check its connectivity and integrity. If needed, replace the power cord.
"    Locate the power supply and confirm that the AC outlet it is connected to has power, and supplies the correct voltage and current.
"    Check for any foreign objects around the power cord.
"    Make sure the power supply is properly inserted.
"    Consult the system's Problem Determination and Service Guide.

NOTE: Power problems can be difficult to solve. Do not attempt to service the system yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
