Knowledge Article: ID X0A20002 " IPMI error log 75% full or 100% full

Description

This event is supported on servers with Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI). The alert is generated when the system management processor error log is at 75% or 100% of its capacity. This is a local event that is not sent to remote recipients. However, these events are sent to IBM Director Agent or IBM Director Core Services.

Causes

The management module contains IPMI log entries that are currently stored in the server event log. An event is generated when the IPMI error log reaches 75% or 100% of its capacity.

Implications

Address this alert at the earliest opportunity. You must clear space for the log manually.

Resolutions

  1. To correct this problem, reduce the number of events in the event log. Access the IPMI error log, and read the latest entries. Clear the event log using the BIOS configuration utility on the server.

  2. Consult the Hardware Maintenance manual and Troubleshooting Guide.

  3. Monitor the system for future error logs.
