ServerView Out-Of-Band Server Integration Pack enables Fujitsu PRIMERGY Out-Of-Band Servers to be integrated into System Center Operations Manager (SCOM 2012 R2 | SCOM 2016). Out-Of-Band within the context of this Management Pack means that no installed SCOM agent is required on the monitored PRIMERGY server and all communication for discovery and monitoring is done Out-Of-Band with the integrated Remote Management Controller (iRMC) of the PRIMERGY server.

The PRIMERGY ServerView Suite from Fujitsu Technology Solutions offers numerous ServerView integration modules which enable PRIMERGY servers to be integrated easily into other enterprise management systems.
Out-Of-Band within the context of this Management Pack and document means that no installed SCOM agent is required on the monitored PRIMERGY server and all communication for discovery and monitoring is done Out-Of-Band with the integrated Remote Management Controller (iRMC) of the PRIMERGY server. This allows integration and monitoring of servers running Operating System versions which are typically unsupported by SCOM. No additional software is needed on the monitored Out-Of-Band Server.
Component Discovery and Monitoring of a Fujitsu PRIMERGY Out-Of-Band Server is implemented using the System Report functionality. Monitored components are displayed within SCOM by means of icons.
If errors are detected by the iRMC the associated component status within the iRMC will indicate the severity of the problem as warning (pre-fail) or error (failed) condition. This information is periodically evaluated by the monitors running on the SCOM server for the Out-Of-Band Server instance and the health state of the component is set accordingly. Furthermore, rules can be applied which trigger an appropriate action when a fault is detected, e.g. a mail describing the fault might be sent to hardware support.
For detailed analysis the iRMC Web Interface can be started directly.

Performance rules are disabled by default
To avoid additional load on the SCOM Management Server the
Out-of-Band performance rules are disabled by default.
Please enable the required performance rule for the relevant systems
with the standard method in the SCOM Authoring view.
The performance rules are targeted to the class Fujitsu Out-Of-Band Server.
RAID MP does not support Redfish Session option
The product showns the Monitor override parameter “Use Redfish Session”.
Please don’t enable this option, because the session support is not
released in this version.
Update iRMC FW to required version before adding iRMC to SCOM
It is strongly recommended that you update the iRMC FW to at least
the minimal required version that is supported by this SCOM integration pack
before you add this iRMC into the SCOM management by the SCAN function.
Installation Steps
- The default installation path for the Integration Pack on the management
station is:
%ProgramFiles%\Fujitsu\ServerView Suite\SCOM Integration
- The Integration Pack contains multiple Management Packs as well as
documentation. Make sure you have read the Fujitsu Out-Of-Band Management
Pack manual for additional installation requirements.
- Create a SCOM 'Run As' Account of type Simple, Basic or Digest
Authentication with the username/password from the local iRMC account.
- The discovery for Fujitsu Out-Of-Band Server will run for all Fujitsu iRMC
devices as target. Therefore successful discovery of Fujitsu iRMC devices
is required.
- Create a new template for 'Fujitsu PRIMERGY iRMC Monitoring' in the
Authoring Pane of the SCOM Console. Step by step instructions with
screenshots can be found in the manual for the Fujitsu Out-Of-Band
Management Pack Authoring -> Management Pack Templates -> Fujitsu PRIMERGY
iRMC Monitoring.
o The Fujitsu iRMC devices can be discovered when the server power is off
- Make sure the iRMC of the Fujitsu PRIMERGY server can be accessed over the
network from the SCOM Management Servers of the specified SCOM Resource
Pool.
- If this fails make sure you have installed the required CA certificate for
the Computer System on all SCOM Management Servers of the specified Resource
Pool
- Alternatively you can disable the certificate checks for a template by
selecting 'Skip Certificate CA Check' and/or 'Skip Certificate CN Check'
in the 'Advanced Settings' dialog depending on your specific Certificate
Public Key Infrastructure.
- For troubleshooting and - if needed - how to install a CA certificate
into the local machine certificate store see the Out-Of-Band Management
Pack manual.
- The discovery script for the Out-Of-Band Server will run automatically every
4 hours for every discovered Fujitsu iRMC instance and will discover the
Fujitsu Out-Of-Band Server instances and components hosted by the Fujitsu
iRMC. Note: The discovery interval can be changed with an override.
- For initial discovery of the Out-Of-Band Server components make sure the
Fujitsu Out-Of-Band Server is powered on and not in BIOS POST or Setup.
This is different to the initial Fujitsu iRMC discovery.
- For iRMC S4 firmware 8.24F or later is supported.
- For iRMC S5 firmware 1.18P or later is supported.
- Note: You can check the SCOM 'Active Alerts' View for unsupported iRMC
firmware alerts.
- Note: You can group different iRMC by creating multiple 'Fujitsu PRIMERGY
iRMC Monitoring' templates if needed.
- Install additional Out-Of-Band Management Packs as needed.
