Mismatching Security Key Identifiers

The causes and resolutions refer to the Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager recovery guru. Launch Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager to diagnose and fix the recovery failure as follows:

Causes

At least two physical disk security key identifiers do not match the storage array security key identifier. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive components. Always use proper antistatic protection when handling components. Touching components without using a proper ground can damage the equipment.

Review the Recovery Guru Details area to identify which physical disks have been affected by this failure.

Determine which steps you would like to take to resolve this problem:

If...

Then...

You want to resolve the problem by importing a valid security key file

Go to 'Importing a Security Key File'.

You want to resolve the problem by powering down the storage array and removing the affected physical disks

Go to 'Removing the Affected Physical Disks'.

Importing a Security Key File

From the Array Management Window, select the Storage Array > Security > Physical Disk Security > Import Key... menu option.

From the list of security key identifiers, select the security key file that corresponds to the affected physical disks.

Import the security key file by manually typing in the file name or clicking Select File to browse for the security key file.

Enter the correct pass phrase for the security key file.

Click Import to import the security key file.

Complete steps 2 - 5 for each reported security key identifier and affected physical disks.

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your Technical Support Representative.

Removing the Affected Physical Disks

Stop all I/O on the storage array.

Power down the storage array.

Remove the affected physical disks.

Turn the storage array back on.

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your Technical Support Representative.
