Dell MD Array Synchronization Paused

Dell.MDStorageArray.ABBXMLEvent446 (Rule)

Knowledge Base article:

Summary

Synchronization Paused

The causes and resolutions refer to the Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager recovery guru. Launch Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager to diagnose and fix the recovery failure as follows:

Causes

A replication group was in the process of synchronizing data, however the synchronization process has been paused. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

Important Notes

Resolutions

1

Fix all underlying error conditions reported in the Summary area associated with the non-optimal RAID controller module in the storage array.

If...

Then...

The error conditions can be fixed

Synchronization of the replication group should resume automatically. Go to step 3.

The error conditions cannot be fixed

Contact your Technical Support Representative.

Note: To complete a synchronization of the replication group before the RAID controller module error conditions are fixed, the replicated virtual disks that are owned by the non-optimal RAID controller module must have ownership changed to the alternate RAID controller module. To do this, go to step 2.

2

Perform the following steps to change RAID controller module ownership of the replicated virtual disks within the affected replication group (identified in the Details area):

a

On the Storage and Copy Services tab in the Array Management Window, highlight the replicated virtual disk owned by the non-optimal RAID controller module.

b

Select the Storage > Virtual Disk > Change > Ownership/Preferred Path... menu option.

c

Follow the instructions in the dialog, and then click the Yes button to continue.

d

Repeat steps a - c for each replicated virtual disk within the replication group owned by the non-optimal RAID controller module. After all replicated virtual disks are owned by the alternate RAID controller module, synchronization of the replication group should resume automatically.

e

Go to step 3.

3

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your Technical Support Representative.
