Individual Physical Disk - Degraded Path
The causes and resolutions refer to the Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager recovery guru. Launch Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager to diagnose and fix the recovery failure as follows:
Open Start >> Programs >> Dell >> MD Storage Manager >> Modular Disk Storage Manager Client.
If the MD Storage Array is already being managed by MDSM, you can proceed with the Causes and Resolution sections.
From Edit -> Add Storage Array, provide the IP address of the MD Storage Array and Add it to the discovered devices configuration in order to manage it.
Select the MD Storage Array and follow the steps specified in this recovery guru.
The specified physical disk channel is experiencing intermittent errors along the path to a single or several physical disks. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.
Important Notes
You must contact your Technical Support Representative to correct this failure. DO NOT attempt to fix it yourself.
If a "Loss of Path Redundancy" problem is also being reported in the Summary area of the Recovery Guru, you MUST fix this failure first; otherwise, you could lose both paths to the physical disks.
DO NOT click the Recheck button until you have consulted with your Technical Support Representative.
Correct this failure as soon as possible. The physical disks are still operational, but a level of path redundancy may be lost. If the other channel to any of these affected physical disks fails, the physical disks themselves could be failed.
1 | Check the Recovery Guru Summary area to see if there are any additional problems being reported. If there are other problems reported, fix those problems first before going to step 2. |
2 | Select the Monitor > Health > Collect Support Data... menu option from the Array Management Window, and take the appropriate steps to save the support data to a .zip file. |
3 | Contact your Technical Support Representative and indicate that a "Individual Physical Disk - Degraded Path" problem is being reported. Send your representative the file you saved in step 2. |
