Summary

The AD FS Windows service failed to start because there is a missing element in the AD FS configuration file (Microsoft.IdentityServer.ServiceHost.exe.config).

If the AD FS Windows service is successfully started, the monitor will change to a Green state and the original critical alert will be resolved automatically.

Causes

Service configuration data is missing a required element.

Resolutions

Fix the configuration error as reported in the event, and then try to start the Federation Service again.
