Summary

The article could not be added to the publication.

Causes

sp_addmergearticle failed to add the article to the merge publication.

Resolutions

Check the event log and SQL Server error log for other errors that occur at the same time as this error. Fix any other errors first, as this one is often a side effect of other problems.

Run SQL Profiler against the relevant SQL Server instance to capture "Errors and Warnings" events. Sometimes this will capture errors that are otherwise not seen.
