Summary

This error may happen when SQL Server is starting. During start up SQL Server needs a few kilobytes of memory to run the Common Language Runtime. If this memory is not available SQL Server may not be able to start.

Causes

This error is raised when there is not enough memory to run the CLR.

Resolutions

First, try to restart the server. If this fails, check Windows system and application logs to identify errors related to system stress or memory. Verify that hardware is performing correctly. Increase the available memory. Restart the computer and run again. If the problem persists, contact a product support provider.
