Summary

The SQL Server Agent Service could not connect to an instance of SQL Server.

Resolutions

In SQL Server 2008 this error may occur when the SQL Server Agent service account does not have a valid login on SQL Server.

In SQL Server 2000 this error may occur if the SQL Server Agent service account does not have a valid login on SQL Server, or if you are using SQL Server Authentication the SQL Server Agent must have a valid SQL Server login and password.
