Active connections count for SQL 2016 DB

Connection is a facility that allows client to communicate with database for data querying and manipulation. One database client may have several connections.

Active connections metric shows database external connections count. If this metric is very high, connected clients may have problems with performance, other non-connected clients may experience issues accessing the database.
