Microsoft.SQLServer.2016.Database.Configuration.TornPageDetection (UnitMonitor)

Monitors the Page Verify setting for the database. Note: This monitor is disabled by default. Please use overrides to enable it when necessary.

Summary

This monitor checks the Page Verify setting for this database. Since this monitor is a part of an overall standards requirement, an alert would be generated if the Page Verify setting does not meet the specified standard.

Configuration

The Page Verify Setting discovers damaged database pages caused by disk I/O path errors. Disk I/O path errors can be the cause of database corruption problems and are generally caused by power failures or disk hardware failures that occur at the time the page is being written to disk.

PAGE_VERIFY {CHECKSUM | TORN_PAGE_DETECTION | NONE}

Causes

A warning alert will be raised if the Page Verify option does not match the required setting. Out of the box, the monitor is configured to alert when this setting is not set to “CHECKSUM”.
