Purpose:

The System Center .NET 3-Tier Application template provides a starting point for modeling 3-Tier web applications built using web application and web services configured to be monitored through the .NET Application Performance Monitoring template and the Web Application Availability template.

Distributed Applications created through this template can be viewed in the monitoring space under the Application Monitoring folder using the Applications dashboard view.

Features:

Pre-defined tiers that are scoped to the proper .NET Application Performance Monitoring and Web Application Availability object types.
Customized health rollup where only Web Application Availability impacts the availability health of the distributed application health.
Customized health rollup so that Configuration, Performance and Security all rollup from the component containers to the distributed application.
Availability, Configuration, Performance and Security rollups raise alerts when they go critical allowing you to subscribe to distributed application level notifications.
