DFS-R: Replicated Folder Enabled State

Microsoft.Windows.FileServer.DFSR.ReplicatedFolderDisabledMonitor (UnitMonitor)

This object monitors whether replication has been disabled on any replicated folders and generates a Warning alert if it has. Replicated folders that are disabled do not replicate.

Knowledge Base article:

Summary

This object monitors whether replication has been disabled on any replicated folders and generates a Warning alert if it has. It does so by looking for the presence of DFS Replication Event 4114. Replicated folders that are disabled do not replicate and may be out of sync with other members of the replication group.

Caution: After enabling a replicated folder, DFS Replication performs the initial replication by using the primary member’s files as authoritative regardless of the age, potentially overwriting newer files.

Causes

An unhealthy state of this monitor indicates that a replicated folder is disabled. This occurs when an administrator disables the folder, usually to conduct maintenance.

Tip: To prevent this issue from occurring in the future, disable replication connections instead of replicated folders. To do so, see Enable or Disable Replication (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=187200).

Resolutions

Enable the replicated folder

To enable a replicated folder, use the following command, where [ReplicationGroup] is the name of the replication group, [ReplicatedFolder] is the name of the replicated folder, and [Server] is the name of disabled member:

Dfsradmin membership set /rgname:[ReplicationGroup] /rfname:[ReplicatedFolder] /memname:[Server] /membershipenabled:true

To use DFS Management to enable a replicated folder, see Enable or Disable Replication on a Specific Member (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=187095).

Caution: After enabling a replicated folder, DFS Replication performs the initial replication by using the primary member’s files as authoritative regardless of the age, potentially overwriting newer files.

Note: To enable a replicated folder, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group, the creator of the replication group, or have been delegated the ability to administer the replication group.

Verification

To view which members of a replication group are enabled or disabled, use DFS Management or the following command:

Dfsradmin membership list /rgname:[ReplicationGroup] /attr: membershipenabled,rfname,memname
