Microsoft.Windows.FileServer.DFSR.UnsupportedVolumeMonitor (UnitMonitor)

This object monitors volumes used to host replicated folders and creates a Warning alert if any of the volume are unsupported.

Summary

This object monitors volumes used to host replicated folders and creates a Warning alert if any of the volumes are unsupported. It does so by looking for the presence of DFS Replication Event 6302.

Causes

An unhealthy state of this monitor indicates that DFS Replication is configured to use an unsupported volume. This can occur if an administrator places any DFS Replication folders on removable volume or a volume formatted with the FAT or FAT32 file systems. Replication will not be started on unsupported volumes.

Resolutions

Relocate the replicated folder to a supported volume

To do so, use DFS Management or the Dfsradmin command to remove the server’s membership in the replication group and recreate it.

Note: To recreate a replicated folder you must be a member of the Domain Admins group in the domain in which the replication group is configured, the creator of the replication group, or have been delegated permissions.
