The failure type is Removed ESM.
What Caused the Problem?
An ESM canister has either been removed from the drive tray or is present but is being reported as removed because it is not seated correctly. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.
Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive components. Always use proper antistatic protection when handling components. Touching components without using a proper ground may damage the equipment.
Important Notes
Correct this failure as soon as possible. Although the drive tray is still operational, a level of redundancy has been lost. If the other ESM canister or its communication path fails, all I/O to that drive tray will fail.
Both ESM canisters in the same drive tray must have the same firmware version and be of the same hardware type.
The ESM canisters should contain a label to differentiate between the different hardware types. Make sure that the labels on both ESMs match if you need to replace one of the ESM canisters.
Recovery Steps
1 | Use the location information in the Recovery Guru Details area to identify the affected drive tray and the location of the affected ESM. Check the drive tray to determine if the affected ESM canister has actually be removed or is present but may not be seated correctly.

2 | Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your technical support representative. |
