Host SSD capacity exceeds the licensed limit for Virtual SAN Alarm

Summary

This monitor tracks the vCenter alarm that monitors license usage for Virtual SAN functionality.

Causes

By default, this alarm is triggered by the following event:

vCenter Event

Description

com.vmware.license.vsan.HostSsdOverUsageEvent

The capacity of the SSD disks on the host exceeded the limit of the Virtual SAN license.

This alarm will fire in vCenter, using configuration defined via the vSphere Client. If you have automatic 'add disk to the storage' configuration, any empty disk attached to the server participating in VSAN will be automatically added to the VSAN datastore.

Resolutions

Check virtual SAN configuration. You can decrease capacity by removing unnecessary data disks.
